"Talk about starting at the top," he added. Reflecting, Lowry said he never could have succeeded without Gaither's encouragement. "But Bill said, 'I've always done many things.' Naturally, I thought, "If he can, I can, too." It was always my dream to record for Word. He was 30 when first recruited by Gaither, and recalled, "I had just signed a recording contract with Word, the Christian label that signed Sandy Patti and Amy Grant.
